Glenbard West Men's Volleyball Works Charitable Fun Fair

GW Men's Volleyball finished one of their community service projects on

Saturday Night as they worked a fun fair for children.  The boys ran the games,

worked the concessions, admissions, and did all of the clean up.  All money was

donated to the Blackfeet Reservation, Montana to provide an 8th grade trip for

the students.  Thirteen of the 8th graders from the reservation will be visiting

Glen Ellyn Monday May 17th and will attend the boys game HOME vs. IMSA.

The boys will be spending time with the students, having dinner, and giving them

them token T-shirts.  Thanks the Men's Volleyball team and so many others involved

the students will have an opportunity to come visit the midwest.

RED SWEEP- GW sweeps the RED DEVILS and takes First in Conference

Fired Up - That Would Be A YES for the Hilltoppers
Glenbard West visited the Red Devils on Tuesday knowing that it was time to pass over the conference title and turn it green.  The Red Devils strong program has dominated the WSS conference for years, but 2010 is a new year!  Glenbard West did exactly what they had been taught to do, walk in with confidence and dominate the game.  That is exactly what they did and in the end, another clean sweep for ALL LEVELS.

The Varsity took down the Red Devils in two, with outstanding court leadership by Kevin McGinnis and Crissy Glotzbach.  As these juniors pulled their weight on the floor, so did the SENIORS.  The gym was well aware of the senior presence as Bailey O'Brien was flawless in the back court, Patrick Carty pulled out key plays on the front line, and Chris Thompson straight up took over the game!  The two sophomores on the floor proved that they were ready for this fast pace game as Ian Lawson and Alex Emanuel connected.  Adam Lepold led the team with eight kills and this big middle came through with his zombie and monster like blocking style, GAME OVER!

OPENING GAME - CLEAN SWEEP
Nerves, excitement, readiness, preparation, day in, day out, practice, practice, practice - GAME TIME!  The Glenbard West Men's Volleyball Team opened their season with a sweet victory over Lockport High School.  They had worked over and over preparing for the season opener, not knowing what the outcome was going to be.  Reflecting on last years disappointing show, the boys new they needed this win to gain momentum for the upcoming season.

Glenbard West had a slow start to the Porters, beating themselves more then their opponent.  After falling game one, the men regrouped and came back to the floor with a different outlook- no errors.  With Kevin McGinnis having a five point service run and Jon Martz putting away five kills, the boys new they could turn this around.  They took game two 25-11 and never looked back

Adam Lepold began game three with two monster blocks in the front row while Chris Thompson put down some mean kills from the outside.  All the Toppers contributed to the win, including setters Chris Glotzbach and Alex Emanuel who came away with over 32 assists to give Glenbard West their first Victory of the season.
