The Glenbard West Men's Volleyball Team decided to start their season off right -
WITH A WIN! The team took their "Varsity Outing" to watch the Chicago Blackhawks
take on St. Louis, and with GW style, the Blackhawks came home with a win.
Way to start the season boys, with a BIG "W" and always having FUN!

Coach Christine Giunta-Mayer completed her 9th year as varsity Boy's volleyball coach at Glenbard West High School. With Coach Giunta-Mayer's direction in 2011 her team accomplishments include defeating highly ranked, Lincoln Way East, Lake Park, Providence Catholic, Downers Grove South, Nequa Valley, and Glenbard East. The Varsity climbed the ladder to compete in the Gold Division at the Glenbard East Tournament, Gold Division at the Benet and Vernon Hills Tournaments, and finally moved up another bracket in the Brother Rice Smack Attack, winning the Silver Division. For the first time in the history of Glenbard West Boy's Volleyball, the Toppers came back to Biester with a Regional, Sectional, Elite Eight, and 4th in STATE Title. The Varsity worked all year to get themselves into the Top Ten by the end of the season, and final four is where they finished. Finishing the 2011 season with an overall record of 33-9, the Hilltoppers remember their road to state and their FIRST victory of Wheaton, St. Francis in their annual "Feed the Need" game. Joining together in a community project, SFHS and GWHS earned honorable recognition from the IHSA as they received the "Sporting a Winning Attitude award" for their efforts at this event in 2009. The Junior Varsity/Sophomore team also maintained their five year championship WSC title with the Varsity and Freshmen finishing 2nd!. Glenbard West Mens' volleyball has become a recognized and valuable competitor in the West Suburban Silver Conference. Coach Giunta-Mayer is the Athletic Director and Physical Education/Swim Teacher at St. Petronille School in Glen Ellyn. She has been teaching swim and coaching boys volleyball for sixteen years. Coach Mayer is also an Alumni of Glenbard West High School and was further educated at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles CA. She received her BA in Communication Studies and attended National Louis University where she continued to study and completed her Masters Degree in Education. She recently received her 2nd Masters in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education and completed her Type 75 Certification in the summer of 2010 in administration..
